Dave Thomas was the manager of a barbecue restaurant and was going nowhere with his life. Meanwhile, his boss had tried to start up a new concept: a fried chicken restaurant. But it had flopped and shut down. Thomas asked his boss, if he could re-open the chicken restaurant and make a success of it, could he be part owner? His boss told him that if he could get him his money back, he could have restaurant. So Dave Thomas threw his entire life in re-building this chicken restaurant. He even lived in it for a while.

Of course, Gates knew what he was doing, having virtually devoting his life to computers since high school, and even dropping out of Harvard because he needed more specialized computer classes.

Conrad Hilton started his empire from a 40-room stucco hotel in Cisco, Texas. I’ve seen this hotel – now home of the Cisco Chamber of Commerce – and it’s hard to believe that such a small hotel in a tiny town could be the birthplace of the modern hotel industry. While Hilton was running the Mobley (that was the hotel’s name), his mother told him “Conrad, if you want to build big ships, you have to go where the water’s deep”, which basically meant to take on more risk, with bigger hotels, in the big city.

Google is more than a search engine these days, now it has become a part of speech. I can't tell you how many times a day I along with millions of others say "Well, did you Google it?" when asked a question that we cannot readily answer. That is the power of this major player in the internet of the present day. In spite of the fact that there are other search engines out there, we never say "Did you Bing it?" or "Did you Yahoo it?"
